SUMMARY:International webinar Universal Design for Learning
DESCRIPTION:In het schooljaar 2024-2025 organiseert het Kenniscentrum Hoogbegaafdheid bijna elke maand een international webinar. Tijdens die webinars is Engels de voertaal. Deze webinars zijn bedoeld voor educatieve professionals en zorg- en hulpverleners die beschikken over een brede kennisbasis met betrekking tot hoogbegaafdheid\, maar niet over de mogelijkheid beschikken om deel te nemen aan internationale in-person activiteiten zoals grote internationale congressen.\nOver dit webinar\nGifted learners bring a unique blend of strengths and challenges to the classroom\, necessitating a shift from traditional teaching approaches to more flexible\, inclusive strategies. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) offers a comprehensive framework to support this diversity by recognizing that there is no “average” learner. This presentation will delve into UDL’s core principles—providing multiple means of engagement\, representation\, and action/expression—to help educators meet the needs of gifted and 2E students. Through these strategies\, teachers can increase rigor\, cultivate engagement\, and eliminate learning barriers\, allowing each student to access content meaningfully and achieve their potential. Practical examples will illustrate how to enhance instruction through diverse materials\, scaffolded activities\, and student-centered assessment\, all tailored to develop the abilities and talents of the range of students within a classroom \nOver de spreker\nDr. Claire Hughes is professor voor onderwijs aan begaafde en dubbel bijzondere leerlingen verbonden aan Cleveland State University. Ze is de president-elect President-Elect of The Association for the Gifted of the Council for Exceptional Children. Haar onderzoek is onder andere gericht op dubbel bijzondere leerlingen\, inclusie\, artificiële intelligentie in onderwijs en onderwijs in internationaal perspectief. Claire schreef diverse boeken en hoofdstukken voor een brede scope aan publicaties.
