Acceleration moves learning ahead whether in terms of moving forward in placement in classes or in curriculum strategies for more complex learning opportunities. Acceleration is more than grade skipping. In fact, there are twenty-plus ways to accelerate students. This session will provide examples of various ways teachers accelerate learning for students in their classes so students can move along at a pace matched to their readiness to learn.

Julia Link Roberts is the Mahurin Professor of Gifted Studies and the Executive Director of The Center for Gifted Studies and The Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky. She is an active advocate for gifted children at the state, national, and international levels.
